Love Bites

Welcome back dolls! The one accessory you do not want to be seen without this season is a vampire novel. That's right, reading's in...but only about sexy vampires!
Who do we have to thank for this craze? Well, that's easy. The author of Twilight, Stephenie Meyer.
With four novels about the sparkling Edward Cullen and human Bella Swan, she set the YA section of Barnes and Noble on fire. However, most people only discovered the Saga after the trailer for the film was released. And all though these wannna-be Twilighters are annoying, what's wrong with crushing on a handsome vamp?
As a true Twilighter, I counted days till Breaking Dawn and reread all novels at least a hundred times but I still find faults with the book. But hey, not everyone can be pleased and I am one tough cookie to please.
So, in search of the perfect vampire love novel I expanded my horizons to not only reading Meyer's works but works of the classic Anne Rice (whose novels freaked me out), the Cast duo, Charlaine Harris and the old but still popular L.J. Smith.
Out of all these authors, I discovered that all vampires tales are alike in one way or another. But in this search for the perfect vampire love novel, I found myself falling head-over heals for L.J. Smith's series. My two favorites are The Vampire Diaries and Night World. After reading all that is published from the Night World series, I found myself loving the name Poppy. Poppy is the name of the charming girl in the first novel of the series, Secret Vampire. Yes, I do realize that if I name my daughter this she will probably kill me in my sleep but I still think it's a cute name.
I am also thrilled to report that The CW is taking on the task and producing a pilot of The Vampire Diaries. I can hardly wait for fall!
So if you are in search of a supernatural love story I suggest:
-The House of Night Series by P.C. and Kristen Cast
-The Night World Series by L.J. Smith
-The Twilight Saga by Stehpenie Meyer
-The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice
-The Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris (Turned the hit series True Blood on HBO)
-The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith
And if you're in the mood for a bewitching novel try:
-The Magic in Manhattan Series by Sarah Mlynowski
-The Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray
Recently, I read a novel titled Go Ask Alice. The novel is a first hand encounter of drugs through a course of diary entries by an unnamed 15 year old girl. The novel was amazing but was so sad that I was sobbing on the airplane reading it. Another novel similar to Go Ask Alice is 13 Reasons Why which will also leave you in tears.
Or, if the though of mythical creatures falling in love, the end of the world, vampire sex, drug abuse, and suicide don't float your boat like it does for others try reading Danielle Steel a tear-jerker with a happy ending....always.
And on that happy on I leave you but not before asking you to check out my friend Peachiee's blog: http://icedvanillachailatte.blogspot.com/. Enjoy and happy reading with whatever you choose your accessory to be!
